Surrender; God is in Control

I write this in honor of the people on my heart who are struggling with sickness and more specifically cancer. I’m not going to name anyone and I’m sure you can think of a person in your life or maybe even yourself, who is in a similar situation. This is me, reflecting on sickness, and what God says about it.

It’s hard for me to put myself in the position of what it feels like to be, for example, diagnosed with cancer but I have seen it happen to people close (like really close) to me and it is scary, on so many levels, for everyone involved.

Surrender. This word makes me take a long, slow, deep breath. God is in control. Matthew 11:28-29 “come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Praise the Lord that he takes our burdens, that he is the ultimate healer, that he loves us and has the best plan for our lives. Wherever life takes us and whatever hardships are in store, in sickness and in health; surrender. Surrender to our creator who “knows the plans he has for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11.

I hope this helps you to feel encouraged with whatever struggles you have to deal with; emotional, physical, spiritual. I pray that the Lord would meet you where you are and give you a BIG hug and a sense of peace. As Helena has mentioned before, if you are in need of prayer or someone to talk to, please send us a message – we would love to shower you in prayer and support you in your journey!
